Túumben Paax, Female Vocal Sextet

Designate “Ambassador 2014” of the International Federation for Choral Music, winner of a Gold Medal at 6th Fukushima Vocal Ensemble Competition 2013, Gold Medal in the Contemporary Music Category, and the "Golden David" for the Best Choir at Florence International Choir Festival in Italy, 2012. The Túumben Paax Female Vocal Sextet (New Music, in Mayan Language) has been a pioneer ensemble in Mexico due to its style and conformation. It was created in 2006 by Lucía Olmos, and it is formed by young singers from INBA Superior School of Music, INBA National Conservatory of Music and Music Faculty of the UNAM. It has been conducted by Arturo Valenzuela, Samuel Pascoe, Jorge Córdoba, Jorge Cózatl and currently by Rodrigo Cadet.

So far, it has performed about 40 world premieres of works specially composed for the ensemble by Mexican and foreign composers. It has been given different kinds of scholarships and support from Mexican government and it has performed at different festivals in Mexico and abroad, such as Manuel Enríquez New Music International Forum, Women in Art International and Iberoamerican Seminar, Discantus International Festival, Camarissima Festival, Sabadell International Music Festival in Spain, and others.

Since 2012 it has begun an intense international activity and has toured by Italy, Spain, Guatemala, Japan, Colombia, China, South Korea and Argentina.

Túumben Paax's main objective is to promote vocal music composition in order to create a link between the creative process of music and its performance.
